If you’ve ever been around Greyhound lovers, you’ve surely heard the term “40 mph couch potato.” Chihuahuas are frequently referred to as “ankle biters” by strangers, though their owners would tell you they are one of the most loyal little dogs you could ever hope to meet. And lovers of the pit bull breed like to brag that the only harm their dogs are capable of is kissing you to death. Though socialization, puppy obedience training, and pack leadership have everything to do with the way a puppy learns basic obedience and manners, breeds do possess certain tendencies, which are the reasons many of us either choose them or avoid them.

Some of the most popular breeds, according to a February 2012 report by Time Magazine, are just as well loved for their peccadillos as their positive traits. When choosing a new puppy, consider temperament, size, energy level, your schedule, your home environment (including whether your new puppy will be content to live in an apartment or will need a house with a yard), grooming needs, allergic issues for you and the puppy, as well as any physical conditions a breed may be predisposed to, among other factors. It’s also wise to consult a puppy obedience training expert in advance to ensure that the breed you’re considering has no proclivities toward personality or physical factors that you aren’t well aware of.

Ten of the most popular breeds in 2012, according to the Time article, and the primary traits they are known for, include:

Rottweiler: The Rottweiler is well known for being very intelligent, playful, and eager to learn and obey. They are also known for being protective of their families with a presence that can be intimidating to strangers.

Dachshund: Dachshunds love kids, and they are a fun-loving little breed. Their inherent hunting skills and interest in tunnels (a throwback to their ancestry as badger hunters) makes it fun to create and play games with them that challenge those instincts.

Poodle: A perennial favorite, the Poodle has a sweet disposition and an intelligence that needs some mental stimulation. They’re also very attentive to their people, which makes them ideal companions. Though poodles do require regular grooming, many people find that it’s a bargain in exchange for the hypoallergenic coat.

Boxer: Another family favorite is the Boxer. Known for being gentle, patient, and generally in love with kids, these brute-faced big guys are sweethearts in disguise. Their history as a working breed, however, does make them tend toward stubbornness, so he needs a confident, consistent pack leader.

English Bulldog: He may look like a gloomy Gus, but the English Bulldog is one of the most amiable breeds of all. Physically squatty and smushy-faced, this gentle guy is easy to get along with and easy to groom; but you need to have a reasonably high tolerance for slobber.

Yorkshire Terrier: Petite and silky with little lovey faces, Yorkies are like living Valentines. They’re portable, adaptable, and independent with loads of energy, but they also like to be pampered and doted on. Their size makes them very delicate, so they need to be in an environment where they won’t accidentally be injured either by jumping off the sofa or by a neighbor dog who mistakes him for an afternoon snack.

Golden Retriever: The Golden Retriever is, in the minds of many, the All-American dog. Goldens exude a Rockwellian physical appearance and demeanor with their active, friendly, and easygoing demeanor. Given their intelligence and temperament, Goldens are a favored breed for service dogs.

Beagle: Beagles are just happy little characters, though when there’s a Beagle in the house, everyone knows it with their characteristic throaty bark. Mischievous and inquisitive by nature, they are masters of the “puppy dog eyes” so they tend to get a free pass from time to time.

German Shepherd: Rin Tin Tin sealed the popularity of the German Shepherd 90 years ago, and generations have followed with an adoring eye toward the German Shepherd. They are intelligent, avid students when it comes to training, which is why they are frequently the preferred breed for service in the military and law enforcement. Their confident aloofness also gives them an added dash of machismo.

Labrador Retriever: The Labrador Retriever rivals the Golden Retriever for status as “America’s Dog.” Known for having a calm temperament, Labs are highly trainable and are considered to be extremely trustworthy family members. A big plus for busy owners is that they don’t require frequent or extensive grooming. If you’re up for a game of fetch, the retriever will always be ready to oblige you.

Of course, if you choose to adopt a shelter puppy, you could just as easily wind up with a purebred as an “everything but the kitchen sink” mix. In either case, puppy obedience training will be the best way to ensure that you both start off your new lifetime partnership on the right foot … or paw, rather.

Diabetes mellitus occurs when the pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin. Insulin is required for the body to efficiently use sugars, fats and proteins.

Diabetes most commonly occurs in middle age to older dogs and cats, but occasionally occurs in young animals. Certain conditions predispose a dog to developing diabetes. According to the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, “Animals that are overweight or those with inflammation of the pancreas are predisposed to developing diabetes. Some drugs can interfere with insulin, leading to diabetes. Glucocorticoids, which are cortisone-type drugs, and hormones used for heat control are drugs that are most likely to cause diabetes. These are commonly used drugs and only a small percentage of animals receiving these drugs develop diabetes after long term use.”

The conventional treatment of choice for diabetes is insulin. Most dogs are also prescribed a veterinary formula processed food.

“Your veterinarian will recommend a specific diet and feeding regimen that will enhance the effectiveness of insulin. If your pet is overweight, s(he) will be placed on a weight-reducing diet. As the pet loses weight, less insulin will be needed. Only feed the recommended diet..NO table scraps or treats that are not part of the recommended diet.”

These veterinary formulas for diabetes are low in protein and high in carbohydrates. Here is the ingredient list for one of the more popular veterinary prescription foods for diabetes:

Whole Grain Corn, Powdered Cellulose, Chicken by-product Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, Chicken Liver Flavor, Soybean Mill Run, Soybean Oil, Dried Beet Pulp, Lactic Acid, Soybean Meal, Caramel Color, Potassium Chloride, Calcium Sulfate, Flaxseed, L-Lysine, Vitamin E Supplement, Choline Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, vitamins (L-Ascorbyl-2-Polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Folic Acid, Vitamin D3 Supplement), Taurine, minerals (Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Oxide, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Calcium Iodate, Sodium Selenite), Iodized Salt, L-Tryptophan, L-Carnitine, L-Threonine, preserved with Mixed Tocopherols & Citric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Beta-Carotene, Rosemary Extract.

Hills states “At Hill’s, nutritionists and veterinarians have developed clinical nutrition especially formulated to provide complete and balanced nutrition to manage dogs prone to weight gain. Prescription Diet® w/d® also helps dogs maintain normal blood glucose levels and promotes healthy digestion..”

Now, we’re not vets, but the ingredient list begs the question, how do corn and powdered cellulose help promote healthy digestion, especially in the dog, who’s physiology dictates that he should eat meat, not grains? There are a lot of holistic vets who would ask the same question.

The key to natural health is balance. As the body moves away from homeostasis, or its normal way of going about its business, it becomes more susceptible to disease. When the body is placed in an unnatural state, unnatural outcomes will result because the body is pushed out of balance. When given antibiotics, the immune system suffers because the beneficial bacteria are destroyed. When given vaccines, allergies and other autoimmune diseases occur because the virus has been injected unnaturally into the body instead of entering through the usual pathways; the nose and mouth. When fed unnatural foods like grains, the body has to produce excesses of insulin and diabetic pets are the result.

Most dog owners who read our magazine and these online articles understand this concept. One example of natural balance dog owners might not be aware of is that of intestinal worms. Dog owners are often searching for ‘natural’ dewormers but ridding the body of worms may not be that natural at all. In the quest to make dogs worm free, vets and dogs owners may be contributing to the increase in allergies and bowel diseases in dogs.

Researchers are currently noticing that organisms like the millions of bacteria, viruses and especially worms that enter the body spur the development of a healthy immune system. The therapeutic use of whipworms to treat autoimmune disorders like Crohn’s disease or severe allergies in humans is called helminthic therapy.

Medical researchers like Joel Weinstock at Tufts University are trying to discover the science behind that mechanism. Weinstock says that modern society — in the quest for proper sanitation and clean drinking water — may have destroyed many of the natural intestinal parasites that evolved alongside humans.

This so-called “Old Friends Hypothesis” (first put forth in the mid-1980s) says that public health improvements in the 20th century have corresponded to a simultaneous increase in auto-immune disorders, an increase not seen in the underdeveloped world where parasites are common.

“Many of these worms are bioengineered for humans,” Weinstock told Discovery News. “We adapt to them; they adapt to us. It becomes like an organ, just like your heart, your spleen or your liver.”

Several continuing studies suggest that worms may help to redirect an immune system that has gone awry and resulted in autoimmune disorders, allergies and asthma.

Studies conducted by Dr. Joel V. Weinstock, the director of gastroenterology and hepatology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, and Dr. David Elliott, a gastroenterologist and immunologist at the University of Iowa, indicate that intestinal worms, which have been all but eliminated in developed countries, are “likely to be the biggest player” in regulating the immune system to respond appropriately. He added that bacterial and viral infections seem to influence the immune system in the same way, but not as forcefully.

Most worms are harmless, especially in well-nourished people, Dr. Weinstock said.

Dog breeds are groups of closely related and visibly similar domestic dogs, which are all of the subspecies Canis lupus familiaris, having characteristic traits that are selected and maintained by humans, bred from a known foundation stock.

The term dog breed may also be used to refer to natural breeds or landraces, which arose through time in response to a particular environment which included humans, with little or no selective breeding by humans. Such breeds are undocumented, and are identified by their appearance and often by a style of working. Ancient dog breeds are some of the modern (documented) descendants of such natural breeds.

Dog breeds are not scientifically defined biological classifications, but rather are groupings defined by clubs of hobbyists called breed clubs.

A dog breed is represented by a sufficient number of individuals to stably transfer its specific characteristics over generations. Dogs of same breed have similar characteristics of appearance and behavior, primarily because they come from a select set of ancestors who had the same characteristics. Dogs of a specific breed breed true, producing young closely similar to the parents. An individual dog is identified as a member of a breed through proof of ancestry, using genetic analysis or written records of ancestry. Without such proof, identification of a specific breed is not reliable. Such records, called stud books, may be maintained by individuals, clubs, or other organizations.

Classification

In biology, subspecies, race and breed are equivalent terms. Breed is usually applied to domestic animals; species and subspecies, to wild animals and to plants; and race, to humans. Colloquial use of the term dog breed, however, does not conform to scientific standards of taxonomic classification. Breeds do not meet the criteria for subspecies since they are all considered a subspecies of the gray wolf, an interbreeding group of individuals who pass on characteristic traits and would likely merge back into a single homogeneous group if external barriers were removed. The recognition of distinct dog breeds is not maintained by a scientific organization; they are maintained by a number of independent kennel clubs that need not apply to scientific standards and are often inconsistent. For instance, the Belgian Shepherd Dog is separated into four distinct breeds by some clubs, but not in others. Further, some groups of dogs which clearly share a persistent set of characteristics and documented descent from a known foundation stock may still not be recognized by some clubs as breeds. For instance, the feist is a hunting dog raised in the Southern United States for hunting small game. Feists have a consistent set of characteristics that reliably differentiate them from other dog types and breeds. However, the United Kennel Club recognizes one breed of feist, the Treeing Feist, while the American Kennel Club does not recognize any feist breed.

A dog is said to be purebred if its parents were purebred and it meets the standards of the breed. Purebred dog breeders of today “have inherited a breeding paradigm that is, at the very least, a bit anachronistic in light of modern genetic knowledge, and that first arose out of a pretty blatant misinterpretation of Darwin and an enthusiasm for social theories that have long been discredited as scientifically insupportable and morally questionable.” Morally questionable policies regarding purity of breed include obligatory surgical procedures to spay or neuter animals in numerous contexts. The American Kennel Club, for instance, allows mixed-breed dogs to be shown but requires these animals to be altered. It does not make such requirements for purebred dogs. California Assembly Act AB 1634 was a bill introduced in 2007 that would require all non-working dogs of mixed breed over the age of 6 months to be neutered or spayed. The bill was morally controversial, leading the American Kennel Club to fight the bill.

The clear genetic distinction between breeds of dog has made dogs of specific breeds good subjects for genetic and human medical research. “Using the dog as a discovery tool” in studying how cancer affects specific breeds may lead to identifying “susceptibility genes that have proved intractable in human families and populations.”

History of dog breeds

Spanish water dog(Perro de agua español). There are many different theories as to its originPariah dogs originally established themselves near human populations, developing and maintaining themselves without further selection. They do not carry any specialized working dog functions. Working, hunting and other functional breeds most likely appeared when there was a demand for certain traits and humans were able to devote time and resources to perfect those traits.

Initial dog selections centered on helpful behavior such as barking at unfamiliar creatures and people, guarding livestock, or hunting game. Some dog breeds, such as Saluki or New Guinea Singing Dogs , have been bred for thousands of years. Some working dog breeds such as German Shepherd or Labrador Retriever were established in the last few hundred years. More recently, dogs have been selected for attractiveness and distinctive features, resulting in a vast variety of different breeds. Similar dog breeds are classified by dog registries in Dog Breed Groups.

Groups of individuals that have dogs of the same breed often unite into national breed clubs, describing their dogs in specific language by writing a breed standard. Breed standards prescribe the most desirable specimen attributes and working abilities for purebred dogs of that breed as well as undesirable traits. National breed clubs promote their breeds via the local breed registry and international organizations. Dogs recognized by the main breed registries are said to be “purebred”.

Development of dog breeds

For the history and development of the dog, see Origin of the domestic dog, Ancient dog breeds, and Dog type.
There is much speculation but little evidence about why canids came to live with or near humans, possibly as long as 100,000 years ago. With the beginnings of agriculture around 12,000 years ago, humans began making use of dogs in various ways, resulting in physical differences between dogs and their wolf ancestors. In earlier times, little was written about dogs, although there were known dog types or landrace dogs, which developed over time with minimal human intervention, to fit in with the environment (including human culture) in which the dogs lived or live. Dog breeds in the modern sense date only to the accurate documenting of pedigrees with the establishment of the English Kennel Club in 1873, in imitation of other stud book registries for cattle and horses.

Many dog breeds today have names of original landrace types, such as the Border Collie. Other landrace types, such as retrievers, have been made more uniform in appearance through selective breeding, and developed into a variety of distinctive breeds. Varieties of purebred dogs kept for working purposes can vary in appearance from purebred dogs of the same breed kept as showdogs and pets.

New dog breeds are being continually created. They are either accidentally or purposely crossbred from existing breeds, developed for a specific style of work, or created just for marketing purposes. Recently discovered semi-feral and landrace types such as the New Guinea Singing Dog have been documented and registered as breeds for purposes of preservation. The Canadian department of agriculture has strict standards for the documenting of what it calls “emerging breeds”. Many registries which require minimal documentation are available for registering new and existing breeds of dog. In general, a dog can only be guaranteed to be of a specific breed if it is documented in the stud book of a major dog registry or breed registry.

Dog aggression can begin as young as about six weeks of age, a crucial age when a puppy should be socialized to many other dogs and supplied the necessary training that keeps them from biting on other people. This phase of socialization will last till the puppy turns fourteen weeks of age and can increase further beyond that.

This indicates a number of things. First, do not take a pup outside of its litter prior to 8 weeks of age. Never use severe discipline with the new puppy in between 8 and 10 weeks and be sure the puppy is very softly dealt with in that time frame. Hitting, yelling and other hard punitive measures at a young age can easily breed aggressive behavior within dogs as time passes.

Your pet will need to have been properly socialized together with people and also other dogs as soon as your dog got to fourteen weeks to stop any future aggression problems.

Actual aggression can be brought about from several factors. Inheritance along with genes are certainly reasons – some breeds can certainly be far more aggressive than the others – however it’s in no way a hard fast rule. Additionally, dogs which have never been neutered or spayed tend to be at risk from aggressive behaviors.

By far, however, the key factor in creating aggressive tendencies in dogs is environment. A dog that has terrible living conditions, harsh owners, zero socializing, or that’s terrified or assaulted by a different dog is far more likely to be aggressive as it ages.

Aggression can build from the need to create a pack pecking order. Biting, posturing, along with other aggressive tendencies in many cases are the effect of a dog testing to get dominance. You will need to create dominance at a young age and maintain that role throughout the dog’s adolescence to ensure it won’t get a chance to take control over the family unit.

Curtailing and Managing Aggressive Behavior in Pet dogs

When your pet dog exhibits aggressive behavior after 14 months old, when it has hit sexual maturity, particularly after it has been nuetered altered, make sure you address the case right away. First, ensure you established yourself as the pack leader. Don’t reward the dog for aggressive behavior, even if it is fearful (particularly in this case).

Train your pet to respond to your instructions, control feeding and walking time, and make certain the dog has got a strong alpha dog inside your home. When you defer towards dog or allow it to take liberties at home, it is going to present stronger aggression toward others.

In case your pet dog is defensive-aggressive, it’s possibly that they strike out at a person in fear. These dogs might possibly not have been adequately socialized. Keep them faraway from young children (which they may see as direct threats) and attend a dog training program or behaviorist who can gradually adapt your pet to a social atmosphere.

Aggressive behavior in your dog has become a concern that a great many puppy owners have, but it could in fact be managed, even as the dog gets older. If your aggression ever advances to violence, consider employing a skilled professional to intercede before somebody gets harmed and your pet dog will be held accountable.

It is suggested that if you are looking for permanent relief for dog allergies symptoms you need to go see a veterinary dermatologist. Here you can find the cause for sneezing in dogs, general allergies in dogs and most of your dog skin problems.

People medicines such as Benadryl and Claritin will only provide temporary relief of the signs and your dog will still be uncomfortable.

In some cases the dermatologist may be able to make up allergy shots if they find out the cause of your dogs allergies. You should not make any diet changes or treat your pet with any medication without strict guidance from a veterinarian.

Changing the dog’s diet without the guidance from a veterinarian can make it more difficult for them to isolate the cause of the allergies. It’s entirely possible that the causes may involve specific foods. This requires an extensive food trial. However it could be environmental agents that are causing your dog allergies symptoms which would require further allergy testing.

On your own you could try hydroxizine or atarax for some relief. Do Not use prednisone, it is not the greatest it’s a steroid and have several side effects. You can also try eliminating the normal protein source with another protein like fish or venison. It takes up to 2 to 3 months of a diet change to tell if there is any effect.

Allergic contact dermatitis usually shows up in dogs as a hypersensitivity reaction to particular molecules in your pet’s environment. Irritant contact dermatitis happens when the skin is exposed to noxious substances in the environment. The symptoms and biologic mechanisms in these two disease structures are closely similar and are often discussed together.

Allergic contact dermatitis is a rare disease, which occurs when an animal’s skin overreacts to certain small molecules in the environment. Substances, which can cause allergic contact dermatitis in dogs include some antibiotics applied to the skin, metals such as nickel, materials like rubber or wool and chemicals such as dyes and carpet deodorizers.

Irritant contact dermatitis occurs when the dog’s skin is exposed to intensely irritating chemicals like the sap in poison ivy or road salt.

What are the symptoms of allergic and irritant contact dermatitis?

Lesions occur on the areas of skin that are sparsely haired and exposed to the offending cause. Areas like the back of the paws, abdomen, muzzle, and lips.

The affected areas are usually very red, have small bumps or blister-like lesions, and itch like crazy. Also in irritant contact dermatitis may occur.

The key to managing these dog allergies symptoms is the obvious removing or restricting of exposure to any allergen or contact irritant in the pet’s environment. If your not able to do this, then using fatty acids, antihistamines, biotin, and topical shampoos can at least control the itching.

As a rule, for any pet suspected of having an allergy problem that could include an allergic contact component, we recommend:

Glass or stainless steel food and water bowls, cleaned and rinsed well daily

Hypoallergenic detergents for the pet’s bedding

Routine hypoallergenic shampoos for the pet to remove any allergens

Restricting walking to sidewalks or paved surfaces-completely avoiding the grass,

if possible.

Be kind to your pooch!

Hopefully in the not to distant future there will be an easier fix for all allergies in dogs.

American bulldogs are loyal and lovable and are very suitable as a family pet. These dogs are very intelligent but they can also be stubborn and light headed. This may lead to a few problems in training. Knowing about their quirks will allow you to train them well to make their obedient. Those who have no experience with the breed earlier may get a little frustrated with training these dogs. Often this may lead to yelling or anger which will definitely not help you. If you are having too many problems training then it is best to get help from a professional trainer who has experience working with the breed.

Obedience Schools

Obedience schools for American bulldogs are not only for amateur owners. In fact, a large number of dog owners who have stubborn pets tend to take help from professional trainers to retrain even adult dogs for breaking habits. A professional trainer may work with your pet alone or introduce it to other breeds to help them socialize better. They can train your pet to teach it about your position as the master if you are dealing with a stubborn puppy. You may not even be aware that you are being submissive instead of dominating to the pet. These dogs will respond well to environment where there are other dogs learning.

Socializing Your Dog

Another important aspect of training American bulldogs is socializing them. These dogs will need to socialize right from an early age so that they are not aggressive or reserved around strangers. If you are taking help from a professional trainer then the trainer would help socialize the pet. These dogs have a natural strong hunting instinct and for that reason they may be aggressive towards other pets if they are not socialized well. It may not be able to be friendly towards other dogs if it has not been trained well.

Training the breed will require some dedication and patience but you will definitely find it all worth it. A well trained pet will be protective and loyal to your family. These dogs are very intelligent though they may be stubborn. They are very much capable of obeying and learning if you work with them consistently. The breed loves to please the owners so they will definitely do everything they can to please you and follow your commands once it has been trained. Fortunately, there are a lot of resources available today on training this breed and you may even ask for suggestions and guidance from the breeder where you purchase the puppy from. If nothing else works out you can always rely on professional trainers for American bulldogs.

Author: Dane Stanton

The Pomeranian is one of the most lovable toy dogs on the planet and have become hugely popular in America. The Pomeranian belongs to the family of dogs known as the Spitz who were first bred in the Pomerania region of Germany. This article will discuss everything there is to know about the Pomeranian so you can get to know this wonderful breed of dog more intimately.

The Origin of The Pomeranian

Believe it or not the Pomeranian actually originated from the sled dogs of Iceland. These dogs were eventually brought into Germany. Of course they were much larger dogs back then and were often used for work purposes like most animals in that day.

So when did the Pomeranian start taking the shape of the dogs we know so well today. Well, it was Queen Charlotte who first brought the Pomeranian into England and through trial and error, English breeders were able to bring this 20 pound dog down to the size of a healthy toy dog. It wasn’t until the 19th century that the Pomeranian was first declared a modern breed of dog.

The Appearance of The Pomeranian

The averagesize of a typical Pomeranian is around 3 to 7lbs. The face of a Pomeranian closely resembles a fox, with a typical pointy snout and cat-like ears. Their tails are generally thick coated and usually only become this way once they reach maturity. The coat is orange with shades of black, white and grey. There are different types of Pomeranians such as the black and white Pomeranian whose color, like its name is only black and white in appearance.

Temperament

The Pomeranian is a very active dog that enjoys a lot of action. This comes from the days when they were first used as sled dogs when being fit and active was highly necessary. As you might also suspect, they are very loyal and are one of the best companion dogs around. Due to their tiny framed bodies, they are usually not the best dogs to have with small children. There is a possibility when playing too hard with a Pomeranian, may cause it to snap and bite on occasions. Because of this many people like to compare them to the Chihuahua, but the only time a Pomeranian will become aggressive is when it feels it is being threatened. They are generally friendly dogs that enjoy as much play as possible as long as it doesn’t become too rough!

Facts on Blue Pitbulls

Author: Dane Stanton

The rise in popularity of blue pitbulls has been on the rise the past decade with the ever-increasing interest in the dogs themselves. The interest is spawned from the media coverage that a pitbull gets when it attacks someone however; this fact is pretty uncommon also. It’s hard to say how many people are attacked by pitbulls in a year because many are owners attacked and go largely unreported however, on average in the United States there are only a reported 3-4 cases a year. There is no reason to speculate on why or try to understand why these things happen but blue pitbulls haven’t been an issue, yet.

What is a Blue Pitbull?

A blue pitbull is a pitbull is interbred with another species of pitbull to achieve the desired effects such as a blue pitbull. In Ireland many hundreds of years ago, the breeders wouldn’t allow this practice to happen because they kept pedigrees a secret and it was thought of as a highly protected secret. This ties in to blue pitbulls because when the gene pool is relatively small it can increase recessive traits such as blue pitbulls.

The blue pitbull is just a dilution of black that looks blue to the human eye and the regularpitbull started getting variety called the blue pitbull. Its imperative to realize having said this that sometimes breeding these dogs to one another for too many generations can cause unknown and known problems and perhaps this is the case of excessive aggression displayed in some blue pitbulls.

How Can I Get a Blue Pitbull and What is the Cost?

A blue pitbull can be extremely hard to locate because they are very rare and in high demand so its not a common thing to find one. Most pitbull breeders, if they have a blue pedigree will constantly try to breed them to produce more but there is no guaranteed equation to make a blue pitbull. The breeders try to have them but due to these reasons it is sometimes a lengthy wait to acquire this rare pet. The general rule of thumb in trying to find a blue pitbull is to put your name on a waiting list and then once they become available you can go and have your pick of the litter.

For a price. Blue pitbulls are extremely expensive and depending on how many dogs were in the litter, and what order of litter picking you are, the price can be even more inflated for first choice, second choice and so on. Blue pitbulls can be upwards of two thousand dollars and usually a down payment is required much like buying a house.

This article provide 5 simple effective essentials in dog training that often overlooked even by many dog training school or by training professional.

1. Almost all dogs love to play! Incorporate play into the doggy training session, use your dog’s natural excitement is as motivation. This is a really simple yet effective technique and you should really try to include this in your obedience training routine.

If your dog doesn’t enjoy it then he/she will not want to do it in the first place and you will most likely just end up wasting both your time and your dog’s.

2. The trainer needs to enjoy the training session As well!, If you are not in the mood, do not even think of conducting the training session at all. A lot of people or trainer brings their frustration into the training session which could do much more harm then good.

When you are not in the mind to train and your mind is always wondering about problems that you might currently be facing, then move the dog training session to another slot of time

3. Just like human, long and tiring training session will not be effective as it will demotivate them. Keep all these training session short 5-10 minutes. Human alone, the highest being in this planet has hard time when sitting in a training room for more than 1 hour, what’s more with your pet.

So keep the Training Session short but fruitful

4. Dogs do get confused, so keep your command short, clear and consistent.

Example: Not differentiating between “Off” and “Down.” “Off” means get Off something. “Down” means lie down. So next time you tell your dog “down” to get them off the couch and they lie down and look at you, its because they were told to lie down there! They are confused, not misbehaving.

When you want your dog to do something for you, normally you call him “Come” but when he did something wrong and you want to reprimand him, you also called hime “Come”. This is definitely will get your Dog Confused and after giving him the punishment, the next time you asked him to “Come” he will not come because in his mind, it means big trouble.

5. Dogs also need to be rewarded. Reward them if they did well. Then they will remember that command that they followed to get the reward. This will be very effective in training them to obey your command.

Well, that’s the 5 effective dog training essentials that often overlooked or forgotten by the Dogs Trainer which might happen to you when you are Training your Dogs.

Remembering them will definitely improve the quality of your relationship and brings a more meaningful and enjoyable moment for you and your dogs.
